Some additional notes for how I play her: she has a younger brother she was pretty close with growing up, he calls fairly often though can't always make it down for the holidays. He takes the ride down to the house blindfolded by a former SHIELD agent with surprising good humor.

Laura was working as an ER Nurse when she first met Clint. He hit on her when they met in a coffee shop and she didn't fall for it. But he was a lot more endearing when he was on painkillers in the ER, and waited around after his discharge to try asking her out on a date a second time. He was just working in construction when they first met, but he was charming and kind and she was okay with the idea that they'd both have to work.

But then Clint decided he wanted to enlist in the Military, and he proposes. So they get engaged although the wedding isn't until after he finishes his first tour in Afghanistan. Eventually he catches Fury's eye, and joins SHIELD and Laura quits her job and lets SHIELD move her out to a quaint little farmhouse in Missouri. Before the kids, she did what she could to keep busy, volunteering in the nearby town under an alternate identity they set up for her, which is about where things dovetail into what we get out of canon.

Personality:

So Laura admittedly doesn't get a lot of on screen development, but even from her brief appearances, the main focus of her character is clearly in the way that she supports others. This very much focuses on her husband and family, but it's more than that as well. Or maybe it would be better to say that people that she cares about become her family. Clint shows up with his rather roughed up team of Avengers, and Laura welcomes them with no reservations aside from the fact that they might have to double-up on sleeping arrangements. She makes dinner, is the one to break up Steve and Tony's argument by sending Tony out to talk to Fury and very clearly does what she can to support everyone there.

When she voices her concerns to Clint, they aren't about distrust so much as the fact that they're clearly a mess and she worries they're not supporting Clint, but she makes sure to point out that "you know I totally support your avenging". She cares about people and will do what she can for them, but that doesn't make her a doormat, and she clearly expects support to be something that goes both ways -- whether it's in regard to Clint or herself.

I think one of the most interesting things about Laura is the fact that there are further layers to her even if her appearances are brief. Because Laura is a person who is canonly good friends with both Natasha Romanoff and Nick Fury, so I feel like writing her off as just "nice" is a mistake when you look at the sort of people those characters are. As much as she loves her husband she supports his avenging because of practicality-- "the kids need a father, but they need a world, too". And there's always been a sort of moral grey area that SHIELD's concept of killing bad people before they can do bad things exists in. So I really don't think that we would see Laura naming one of her kids after Natasha and helping out Fury and inviting him to stay for dinner if that was something that Laura struggled with, which positions her moral compass as fairly in the grey despite her cheerful nature.

Also notable here is that Fury is supposed to be dead, but Laura seems to be on the list of people that knew he was alive, which implies a certain degree of trust of someone who's largely a civilian. And trust isn't exactly something Fury's known for. Also, while we don't know at what point Clint decided to bring Natasha to the farmhouse, best guess puts it pretty early-- I don't think Lila would call her "Auntie Nat" unless Natasha had been around since she was pretty young, which goes back to this idea of Laura being supportive and caring for others, but also that she's clearly someone Natasha learned to trust, when that seems to be something difficult for her. And likely was even more so when Natasha was first brought into Laura's life, so she's clearly someone that knows how to win people over.

Laura is also sharp. Which as someone raising three kids she obviously requires, but I think it's notable that she's the one that picks up on Natasha and Banner's relationship. She's no Natasha, but she has charm and knows how to angle in the right circumstances. And the thing about Laura is that she's exuberant and cheerful on top of all of this. She knows how to be someone that Clint and others can lean on, she knows how to pull people along with her and try and keep the mood upbeat even when it clearly isn't. She's good to other people but she also doesn't compromise herself while doing so.

Abilities: Laura doesn't have any unique or superior-level skills. That said I do play her as having been an ER nurse, so while it might have been a while since she's used it for more than stitches, she does have medical skills. I also run with the idea that between Clint and Natasha she has some basic self-defense / emergency situation / survival skills for just-in-case.
